Our Thoughts:  Nothing like a little play on words to generate a smile or two for older readers.  My youngest son really enjoyed reading this book.   The Geronimo Stilton books are a favorite among his classmates and he really enjoyed the latest addition saying "Who knew mice had such a rich geneology".  Yes, he actually said that.  Just enough adventure and mystery to keep him enthralled all the way to the very end and awaiting the very next Geronimo Stilton book.

Overall, a perfect read for young readers and sure to put a smile on their face as they read of the latest adventures of one of their favorite characters.

Novica Review and Giveaway

Last year a friend of mine gifted me with a pair of earrings she purchased while on vacation in Antigua.  The earrings, she says, were designed by a young mother who told her how she earned enough money to support her family from selling her wares.  My friend and I have a knack for purchasing unique gifts for each other whenever we travel.  She knows I love earrings and I know she loves elephants so whenever she see a pair of earrings she always picks them up for me and whenever I see elephant-themed  knickknacks, I pick them up for her.

Six Hours One Friday by @MaxLucado Book Review

Does life feel futile? Doesn't have to.

In Six Hours One Friday, Max Lucado delves into the meaning of Jesus' last hours on the cross. Through his death, your life has purpose and meaning. You are forgiven and loved by a Savior who died for you. And an empty tomb proclaims that death does not have the final word.

My Thoughts:  Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors.  His writings are so inspirational and his words always seem to touch my heart.  Six Hours One Friday is one of those books you read and then you want to share with others.  After reading the book, as with most of Lucado's books, I found myself wishing I'd never turned to that last page.  How clever to equate a story of one of the death of Jesus Christ with a message of hope.  Lucado has a knack for telling those biblical stories we've heard a zillion times and relating them to our everyday lives.  

Is this his best book?  No.  Not in my opinion, yet it is one of my favorite Max Lucado books.  One I'm sure I will probably read again and again and alas, again.

Expanding their World with Little Pim Language DVDs

When the twins were little, baby signs was all the rage.  It didn't take long for the twins to master non-verbal communication skills to let hubby and I know they were hungry, thirsty and it was cute.  As they got older, we started expanding their verbal communication to include common Spanish and French phrases and in the 3rd grade, their elementary school began offering Spanish classes.  There's something fascinating about learning another language and studies show learning a second language can be beneficial to your mind, body and spirit.

We received the Little Pim Japaneses Eating and Drinking DVD 1.  The DVD contains nearly 60 different Japanese words.  Little Pim kept the attention of the Littlest One plus his  playdates next door 7-month old and 3-year old neighbors and my 4-year old "niece".  The video segments are long enough to hold their attention and we laughed as the music seemed to peak the attention of the 7-month old. He kept crawling towards the TV every time the music changed while the 2-, 3- and 4- year olds just sat on the floor totally fixated on the screen.  We watched with the kids and were surprised that they recognized a few of the words from the movies when we spoke them.  

After watching the DVD we received, it's easy to see why Little Pim has received so many awards, received international recognition and been featured on The View (click to watch video) and Rachael Ray's Holiday Gift Guide.  Be sure to check out the Little Pim store for CDs, books, flashcards, and much, much more Little Pim stuff.

My Thoughts:  If there's one thorn in my and Hubby's wedded bliss, it's MONEY.  It's the one topic we totally disagree on.  He's definitely the more practical one of us bent on using "extra" cash to pay down the car loans and paying off the mortgage.  Whereas, I was  the one that's all for spending any "extra" cash towards the annual family vacation and weekend getaways and the latest, greatest, must have.  Throughout our nearly 17 years of marriage we have come to realize a balance that works for us to help us meet our financial goals.  However, it's something we work on constantly.  

The Money Couple's The 5 Money Personalities provides some great tips for helping couples learn to talk openly about money.  Confessing your "financial infidelity" can help you and your partner address those monetary issues that burden you.  I love the term "financial infidelity" which Palmer and Palmer use to describe as any behavior which causes you to avoid being forthright about money.  Like the new pair of shoes you bought that were a little bit more than what you told your spouse.  Oh, that's my story, sorry. ☺

My Latest TV Addiction @ScandalABC Returns to TV This Thursday

I've counted the days since the last episode of Scandal aired on ABC and finally, finally my favorite show is returning!  To say "I'm happy" is an understatement.  I am THRILLED.
   
When Scandal airs, I make sure Los Tres Amigos are showered, bathed and in the bed so I can retreat to my room, with some internet-enabled device for live tweets of course.  So have you watched it yet?  Have you checked out the ABC television drama of 2012 created by Shonda Rhimes?  You know Shonda Rhimes who penned a little movie titled Crossroads which marked the acting debut of one Ms. Britney Spears.  Yeah, Shonda Rhimes, Grey's Anatomy creator and it's spinoff, Private Practice.  Yes, yes, that SHONDA RHIMES.  

The series stars Kerry Washington, who is currently burning up the movie screens thanks to a part in a little movie called "Django".  Miss Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a no-nonsense fixer upper who manages a team of unlikely folks who clean up what others mess up.  The cast is astounding.  Some familiar faces from TV land with a sprinkling of new ones.  The story is well written and each episode cliffhanger will leave you anticipating the following week.

The fact that Miss Washington is starring in this drama is historical.  You see there hasn't been a single network tv drama led by an African American / Black woman since the 1970s.  Way to go Miss Washington!  Way to go Miss Rhimes!  Way to go ABC!  

Yes, the world is taking notice as Scandal begins it's 2nd season.
