Tweenz Review and Giveaway @TweenzHair

The little old lady is growing up so fast and her hair is OMG getting to be quite the challenge.  Baby shampoos don't quite do the trick.  They leave her hair dry and she's still a lil' bit too young for the chemical-laden products in my hair conditioners.  I was glad to have the chance to try TWEENZ hair care products.

TWEENZ hair care products are sulfate and paraben free, cruelty free AND don't contain any artificial dyes.  We received a trio of products:  shampoo, conditioner and detangler.  The shampoo lathered well and was deliciously scented with hints of mango and papaya.  The lather consistency reminded me of the baby shampoo we regularly use on the little old lady's hair.  

The conditioner was lightly scented and had a nice consistency.  It wasn't oily and rinsed out in one rinse and no burning tears when a drop fell near her eyes.
  
The detangler is definitely something I will purchase for the little old lady. Combing through her thick hair often results in tears and a sleepy little missy, but the detangler really helped.  I've been wanting to try a detangler for a little while but worried about the chemicals and figured I'd wait til she was a little older.   


Since TWEENZ isn't heavy ladened with chemicals I felt okay using it on her hair.   It's nice when you recognize some of the ingredients in some of the products you use.

Our Thoughts:  We had the opportunity to review Reverse Charades Junior Edition.  The game is perfect for all ages and the boys have even asked if they can take it to school.  We moved the table in the living room and let the antics begin.  It's so much fun and perfect for getting everyone involved.  Seriously, the game is perfect for preschoolers all the way to the grandparents.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Third Wheel Review and Giveaway

Our Thoughts:  My boys have been long time fans of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and the oldest of Los Tres Amigos was thrilled to be among the first of his friends to have the latest book in the series.  I love to read and I'm sure my love of reading comes from my mom, who is an avid reader and now the tradition continues in my kids.  All of them are avid readers and it's always nice to peek in their bedroom and see them engrossed in a book.  It's a beautiful thing.

Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid never disappoints.  All of my boys are fans and most of their friends are fans.  The series is often among the first books to sell out during the annual book sale at the kids' school.  

I'm also glad to see the series is now available in e-books as Wimp-E-Books.

Kylie Minogue "The Abbey Road Sessions"

Abbey Road is legendary and Kylie Minogue is a singin' sistah so I was excited to have the opportunity to review Kylie Minogue "The Abbey Road Sessions" but the real Kylie fan in my life AKA my brother was really excited and offered to help review Kylie's latest CD.  Seriously, when he visited last week and I showed him the CD, he said "Seriously, you haven't listened to Kylie since when, the early 90s."  OMG, he was right.  My knowledge of Kylie didn't extend much past her hit "Locomotion".  Then he preceded to educate me in all things Kylie and thus earned a partnership in this review.  So without further adieu, here's OUR review...
 

Sixteen tracks.  Some familiar ones and others notsomuch.  I could go on about "Locomotion" but if that's all you know about Kylie, then you are in for a treat.  Her instant success of that single left many of us thinking Kylie was a one hit wonder.  However, true Kylie fans will appreciate the maturity that resonates throughout this CD.  The Abbey Road Sessions is riddled with orchestral accompainments.

I loved the song "Slow", well at least this version.  The original came out in the late 80s and was a pretty good, B track BUT the version on The Abbey Road Sessions is smoother.  Again, this is a more mature Kylie than the bubblegum pop princess of the 80s. 

We both agreed the track "Flower" is among the best on the CD.  The track "Flower" made me cry.  As I listened to the lyrics, there was something about the lyrics that touched me.  Then I googled the lyrics and immediately my heart burst.  Flower is probably one of Kylie's most personal songs to date.  She wrote it during her very public bout with cancer and the song is about her desire to become a mom.  I struggled with infertility for many years before the birth of my children so I could relate to the song. 

My brother thought "Flower" was a testament of Kylie's songwriting skills.  I couldn't agree with him more.  Lovers of Kylie's music have waited a long time for her to pen a song from her heart and Flower did not disappoint.

My Thoughts:  Taking care of an elderly loved one can be quite challenging and I really appreciate how Abraham writes with care of his experiences with his mom.  Although my husband and I have yet to deal with the responsibilities of caring for an aging parent, we have several friends who have had to do so and it has proved to be quite the challenge.  Abraham does an excellent job of sharing his experience without his book coming across as a one size its all, this is what will happen textbook. 

I loved the beginning in which Abraham writes how others noticed the change in his mom long before he did.  Once brought to his attention, he began to noice signs of his mother's declining memory.  When Your Parent Becomes Your Child chronicles his family's journey from suspicion to diagnosis to hospice and Abraham pays tribute to his mother with love and honor.  A wonderful read for anyone who is taking care of an elderly parent.

Private Selection is available at my local grocer and offers items that will have your guests asking for your entertaining secret.

I recently received coupons to try some of Private Selection offerings and selected Garlic Stuffed Olives, Jalepeno Stuffed Olives and Blue Marbled White Cheddar Cheese.  Hubby and I sampled them with the Classic Water Crisps and Costa Rican Tarrazu coffee provided in the BzzAgent BzzKit. 

When it comes to water crackers, there isn't much to say.  Water crackers are meant to compliment their topping not overpower them and the Private Selection Water Crisps did not disappoint.  Each cracker served as a firm base for the accompanying cheese, Blue Marbled White Cheddar Cheese may I add (more on that later).  The Water Crisps were crisp with every bite. 

The Private Selection olives were foreign to me.  Funny considering I purchase pickles, pepperocinis and olives several times a month and am still amazed I had never seen any Private Selection olive offerings at my local grocer.  Besides the variety, I loved the price.  Private Selection stuffed olives were on average $1 cheaper than the brand I typically purchase.  The money saved sure wasn't wasted on flavor as the olives were vibrantly-colored, flavorful and in a word - succulent.  The Private Selection Jalepeno Stuffed Olives were hubby's fave but I favored the Garlic Stuffed and with each bite imagined how delicious they would taste in my tapenade.  There was a blue cheese variety but since we purchased the Blue Marbled White Cheddar Cheese I decided I would have to try the blue cheese stuffed olives another time. 

It isn't often I find myself at a loss of words when it comes to describing something I like but I cannot think of any words to describe how delicious the Private Selection Blue Marbled White Cheddar Cheese is.  I first tried this variety at a Summer BBQ we hosted and everyone raved about this cheese.  I almost forgot how delicious it was and was pleasantly reminded of how a true foodie can delight in something as simple as cheese and crackers.

If you're counting calories, you'll be glad to know there are only 90 calories per slice.  However, it's the Holiday Feasting Season, calories schmalories.
