The Ten Commandments - Mommy Bear Media Review

Movie night is our favorite night of the week.  Three Boys and an Old Lady is always on the lookout for family friendly movies and Mommy Bear Media is one of our favorite places to shop for all things movies.

Hubby is always saying how we never seem to find anything just for him so imagine his surprise when his all-time favorite movie, The Ten Commandments, arrived on our doorstop.

Liner Notes:
Throughout film history, Hollywood has produced a number of sweeping epics and generation-defining movies. However, one film - Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments - has stood the test of time. Universally recognized among critics as a cinematic masterpiece, this unforgettable motion picture has also been recognized by The American Film Institute as one of the "Top Ten" epics of all time. From its Academy Award-winning director and revolutionary Oscar-winning special effects to its memorable music score and all-star cast, The Ten Commandments presents the story of Moses in all of its stunning glory. Starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter and a "who's who" of legendary screen talent, the film was nominated for seven Academy Awards,
including Best Picture of 1956.

Now fully restored to a stunning new visual experience, The Ten Commandments looks better than ever and remains one of the most revered films of all time.

Features:
Commentary by Katherine Orrison, Author of "Written in Stone: Making Cecil B. DeMille's Epic, The Ten Commandments"
Newsreel: The Ten Commandments Premiere in New York
Theatrical Trailers: 1956 "Making Of" Trailer/ 1966 Trailer/ 1989 Trailer

About Mommy Bear Media
What makes our website different than any other website is that we only carry the "good stuff." What we mean by that is that we only have movies that are:

Clean
  • No R, NC-17, TV-MA ratings
  • Selective PG-13 and TV-14 ratings
  • Not too much sex, violence, etc.
  • If the movie or tv show is on www.commonsensemedia.org, we only include it if it's green age 14 or lower (that means movies they say are "on" for ages 14 and under)
Good
  • High quality
  • Top-rated
  • Are worth watching
  • Have a good message

With My Body
A Novel
By Nikki Gemmell
480 pages, on sale 6/19
Copies available now

With the insane popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey, it would be really tempting to focus on how steamy this book is and how it made me blush on the subway multiple times. I’m even tempted to dog-ear the pages for all of you, just like I did before passing Judy Blume’s Forever to my friends when I was young. But there’s a lot more to this book than that. It’s a story of growing up motherless in rural Australia, of the challenges and excitement of falling in love, of the angst of getting older. More than anything, it’s about how you cannot relive the past—no matter how salacious it was—and how our first loves can ruin us forever.

When We Argued All Night
By Alice Mattison
384 pages, on sale now

This poignant narrative follows the story of friendship as it remains the one constant in a perpetually changing world. By focusing both on the personal stories of Artie Saltzman and Harold Abramovitz, who have been through it all—the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the McCarthy era—and the rich history of this time period, Alice Mattison allows readers to become acclimated with a time gone but not forgotten. As I followed this fast-paced journey of this friendship, I found myself engrossed in the past, aware of the present, and appreciative of the friendships I’ve maintained over the years.

Tolstoy and the Purple Chair:
My Year of Magical Reading
By Nina Sankovitch
256 pages, on sale now

We read for pleasure, for education, for escape, and sometimes, like Nina Sankovitch, we read to make sense of the world and our experiences in it. After the death of her older sister, Sankovitch commits to a mission: she will read one book each day for the next year. In this moving memoir, readers follow her as she grieves, using reading as a therapy that not only helps her make sense of her loss, but also triggers memories of a heartfelt past filled with death, courage, and perseverance. In addition to Sankovitch’s personal story, Tolstoy and the Purple Chair gives us the opportunity to read alongside Nina, to remember our favorite classics and acquaint ourselves with new ones, all the while remembering why it is we love to read in the first place.

The White Devil
By Justin Evans
384 pages, on sale 7/10
Copies available 6/20

Eerie British boarding school? Check. Unsolved murder mystery? Check. Lord Byron as your friendly, or not-so-friendly, neighborhood ghost? Check. With all the essentials in tow, The White Devil is a gothic thriller that will keep you turning the pages. As you follow seventeen-year-old Andrew Taylor’s stay at The Harrow School—an esteemed but haunted British institution—you’ll jump through past and present in attempt to solve a two-hundred-year-old mystery that proves that history is bound to repeat itself. Justin Evans’s sharp writing and intricate plot are a suspenseful summer treat!

How to Be a Woman
By Caitlin Moran
320 pages, on sale 7/17
Copies available 6/27

Women unite! In her witty and discerning commentary on the modern woman, British comedian Caitlin Moran discusses anything and everything from her personal life to life in the office, from strip houses to Lady Gaga. Part memoir, part rant, Moran presents a raw, honest, and emotionally empowering look at what it means to be a feminist today. I related to How to Be a Woman on many levels—I laughed out loud at her recollections and anecdotes (especially from her wedding) and found myself nodding along to her observations on how far we’ve come, how much farther we have to go, and how undeniably important it is for society to maintain and promote female rights.

How'd you like to win one of these fab reads?  Better yet, why not all five!  That's right, one lucky Three Boys and an Old Lady blog reader will receive all five books in the Summer Giveaway Hop that begins August 1!

Fiber One Nutty Clusters & Almonds #MyBlogSpark Review and #Giveaway

Have you seen the Fiber One commercials with the parents eating breakfast and the kid comes to the breakfast table and the mom realizes she forgot to buy cereal?  The dad covers the letters "F" and "I" with his fingers and tells his son the cereal is called "Number One".  That commercial makes me LOL every time I see it.  So of course when My Blog Spark asked if I wanted to sample Fiber One I was up to the challenge and for the record my kids LOVE it!  In fact, we bought a box during last week's trip to the grocery store.

Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almonds is the latest addition to the Fiber One cereal line-up!
  • Contains 11 grams of fiber (43% of the Daily Value), 23 grams of whole grain (at least 48 recommended daily), and 180 calories per serving
  • Chock full of delicious crunchy nut clusters, real sliced almonds and whole grain flakes

In a nutshell, Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almonds is a great-tasting and wholesome breakfast cereal that you can feel good about. Tasting is believing, and we love Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almonds.  It's sweet enough for the kiddos and not too sweet for those of us who try to avoid the sugary kids' cereals.  Plus, it's chock full of fiber!  Now let's be honest are you really getting enough fiber in your diet?  Well, Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almonds is a great way to sneak in a little fiber at breakfast or as a delicious snack!

Snag It:  Visit http://bit.ly/Fiber1NCAcoupon to download a printable coupon for $1.25 off one box of Fiber One Nutty Clusters and Almonds cereal today!

WITH THE TINY TOONS GANG
ON WARNER HOME VIDEO’S RELEASE OF
TINY TOON ADVENTURES: HOW I SPENT MY VACATION
AVAILABLE ON DVD FOR THE FIRST TIME
AUGUST 21, 2012

BURBANK, CA (May 23, 2012) – It’s summer vacation madness at its best with Babs and Buster Bunny, and all their pals from Acme Looniversity as they ditch the classroom for zany escapades and fun on Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation, available in stores August 21, 2012. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, this full-length animated film is available on DVD for the first time from Warner Home Video (WHV) and will retail for $19.97 SRP.

No more pencils, no more books! It’s the last day of class at Acme Looniversity and the Tiny Toons gang is ready for some summer hi-jinks and fun. Babs and Buster Bunny’s water pistol fight gets a little out of control and turns into a wild and exciting white-water rafting trip. Plucky Duck and Hampton Pig share the most impossibly awful road trip imaginable on their way to HappyWorldLand. Elmyra Duff becomes irritable after losing her cat and wanders off on her own in a wild animal park in search of “cute little kitties to hug and squeeze.” In the meantime, Fifi Le Fume meets film actor Johnny Pew who turns out to be a “skunknophobic” nightmare. It’s a loony summer vacation our Tiny Toons pals won’t soon forget!

Produced by Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation was executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

“Whether you’re a Tiny Toons fan or an admirer of classic Looney Tunes cartoons, this film is a must have if you love animation,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President Family & Animation Marketing and Partner Brands. She added, “Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation combines animation with clever and imaginative writing, resulting in a delightful film the whole family can enjoy.”

Tiny Toon Adventures focuses on the new generation of Looney Tunes characters who study at Acme Looniversity. The series was produced by Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation.
