Hotel Transylvania Comes to Nintendo DS and 3DS
Posted by Unknown at 4:06 PM Labels: video games 0 comments
Hotel Transylvania (DS and 3DS) - a side-scrolling adventure game available on Nintendo DS and 3DS is based off the wildly successful movie from Sony Pictures Animation. Hotel Transylvania tells the story of Count Dracula’s daughter Mavis who is celebrating her 118th birthday at her father’s five- stake resort. Join Drac and some of his closest friends including; Frankenstein, his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man and Werewolf in celebration of his daughter’s birthday. The game takes players through a variety of locations, puzzles, and boss battles galore!
Our Thoughts: The kids loved the movie and are always eager to try a game with a movie tie-in. The Middle of Los Tres Amigos put the game to the test for this review.
He was right. The graphics are pretty cool. It reminded me of those pc computer games from back in the day. In order to progress in the game you must interact with other characters along the way. Lots of pop up bubble convo which detracts from the action but defines the story line. Cutesy. Despite your favorite ghouls and monsters, this is not scary and perfect for the kiddos. Little ones who have seen the movie (great movie by the way) will undoubtedly enjoy the game a little more.
Buy It: Rated E10+ and available everywhere for $29.99. Available at retailers nationwide including:

Dear Deb A Woman with Cancer, a Friend with Secrets, and the Letters That Became Their Miracle
Posted by Unknown at 5:16 PM Labels: books, booksneeze 0 commentsBook Description "I want you to know that if my illness inspired you to write these stories, the cancer was worth it."—Deb What stories could possibly make cancer worth it?
Stories that represent a miracle—a lifetime of miracles. Stories that changed the writer as she wrote them and stories that will touch the heart of the reader, one by one by one. Stories that are not just stories. They started out as words of encouragement to a dying woman. They turned into a collection of sparkling and intimate moments, pulled from the past to finally be understood and shared with new meaning.
Story by story, letter by letter, Margaret Terry uncovered powerful pictures in her own life of the one truth that could help carry her friend Deb from this life to the next: God is at work. Together, Deb and Margaret found renewed hope in all the ways God shows up right to the very end. Which is where they found the miracle they'd been praying for all along. In each other.
My Thoughts: Whether spoken or written there is power in words. There are times when I read books like Dear Deb and think what a wonderful idea. Through her writings, Margaret was able to share a little of herself and through her letters forge a friendship and purge herself of some of things she had kept hidden. Things she never shared. Funny isn't it, how one event can change a person.
Dear Deb is a journey. One which we bear witness to the awkwardness and uncertainty of an attempt to remind someone to remain positive when we ourselves are faced with doubt and fear. Watching someone you know go through something so unimaginable that our mouths utter words of inspiration while our minds fear the worse. However, sometimes writing is an easier way to come to face to face with that which holds us back.
Overall, a good read and one which may spark you to launch your own Dear Deb letters for a person in your life.
Disclosure: Many thanks to Booksneeze for the opportunity to review Dear Deb. I received a complimentary book for purposes of facilitating this review.

Love how the ensemble is paired with these black patent leather boots. Yes, of course one could wear it for Halloween BUT lose the tail and the headband and this is definitely a hot little number to hit the club in on a cold, Winter night.Yeah, EdenFantasys has costumes but if you're only dressing up once a year, you are missing out on so much! How to Snag Swag Codes
Posted by Unknown at 6:40 PM Labels: Swag Bucks 0 commentsSwag Codes are strings of text that can be found anywhere in the Swagbucks Universe. If you find and redeem one, you get rewarded with Swag Bucks. Fun and simple right?
Each Swag Code is worth a certain number of Swag Bucks. When you find one, enter the exact string of text into the "Gimme" box in the top right corner of Swagbucks.com to get your SBs. Swag Codes are case sensitive, so make sure to type in the text exactly as you see it into the "Gimme" box of the homepage.
Swag Codes are typically active for a short duration, typically a few hours, so please make note of the expiration time when redeeming a Code.
Swag Codes can be found anywhere in the Swag Universe: on the homepage, in the Swag Store, on the toolbar, in a SBTV video description or even any of the Swagbucks.com social media pages. While you never know when a Swag Code will appear, Swagbucks will sometimes host a Swag Code Extravaganza, which means there will be multiple codes throughout the day of the Extravaganza.
Once you have entered a correct Code into the Gimme box on the homepage within the allotted time, you will receive a congratulations message!
If the code is expired, typed incorrectly, or is available only for a different country, you will receive a corresponding error message. If an error message stated that you have already redeemed a specific code when you haven't, refresh the page and try again.
Lastly, please note that it is against the rules to share an active Swag Code or post obvious clues about it. Keep the fun going for everyone as they check the toolbar and other places for Codes rather than giving them away.

How to Handle Flare-ups, Injuries, and Everyday Back Health
How to Handle Flare-ups, Injuries, and Everyday Back Health
Inspiring Chicken Soup for the Soul stories and accessible leading-edge medical information from Dr. Julie Silver of Harvard Medical School. Many people suffer from back pain. The lucky ones have occasional flare-ups and the unlucky ones have chronic issues. This book is filled with great advice on how to care for your back, recover from injuries, improve your mobility, handle pain, manage chronic problems, and maintain a positive attitude. My Thoughts:
This is the perfect book to gift to the loved one who says “Oh my aching back”. Each chapter begins with those familiar Chicken Soup for the Soul stories we love but unlike other books in the series, each chapter in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Goodbye to Back Pain ends with helpful advice, explanations, tips and illustrations for relieving back pain. Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Goodbye to Back Pain offers information on when you should consider speaking with a medical professional about neck and back pain and even explains common causes of back pain. Saving Each Other by Victoria Jackson Book Review
Posted by Unknown at 4:10 PM Labels: Book Review, family, health 0 commentsVictoria Jackson is the American Dream personified. From a modest and troubled background she rose to create a half-billion dollar make-up empire, yet her greatest achievement is and always will be her three children.
When Victoria's daughter, Ali, was diagnosed with a rare and incurable autoimmune disease, Neuromyeltis Optica (NMO), Victoria found herself awake and very much alive in her own worst fear. At the age of 14, her daughter was given four to six years to live.
With no research on NMO, Victoria worked day and night to bring together a team of the world’s top experts on autoimmune diseases to create the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation. A foundation fueled solely by a mother’s tenacity and dedication, GJCF now includes more than fifty of the world’s leading medical professionals from Stanford, Harvard, and the Mayo Clinic.
Saving Each Other is the extraordinary journey of a mother and daughter who demonstrate how the power of love can transcend our greatest fears and overcome the impossible.

"Sometimes we're given a physical or spiritual challenge that we have no idea how we're going to rise to. In this riveting account of a mother-daughter love story and their urgent search for a cure, we're made aware of the power that dwells inside utter necessity. By the end of this book, you'll laugh, cry, rage, and rejoice . . . and you'll feel that lovely connection to life that you only get when you pass through your dark night of the soul."
-- Kathy Freston, New York Times bestselling author of Quantum Wellness and The Lean
"I've made a career telling inspirational women's stories. This real life story is a triumph. Saving Each Other is about a mother and daughter bonding over love, maturity and survival. Victoria and Ali, two people I've admired for years, have written an incredibly moving and important story that must be shared."
-- Garry Marshall
"The unstoppable power of these two extraordinary women is an unforgettable and inspirational experience you will carry in your heart forever."
-- Dustin Hoffman
"As a woman, mother, and close friend of the authors, I find this story deeply moving on so many levels. The work that I've seen Victoria, Ali, and the foundation undertake has been extraordinary, especially in bringing doctors together to share ideas and create a dialogue that wasn't there before. As their experts grow closer to finding better, more effective treatments for this disease, they can open the door for solutions to many other diseases -- and that's just incredible!"
-- Reese Witherspoon
"Saving Each Other is a testament to a mother's incredible strength and a daughter's unshakable courage. However, it is so much more than that. The Guthy/Jackson family's journey in fighting Ali's disease -- and their refusal to give up -- is beyond inspirational; it is truly one of the greatest love stories I've ever read. This wonderful book will make you laugh and cry. But most of all, you will cheer for this amazing family's unfailing tenacity and hope in the face of enormous obstacles and fear. Their fight will ultimately help save countless other lives."

My Thoughts:
What a beautiful testament of a mother's love. The story is very inspirational and a wonderful example of perseverance. Through her daughter, Ali, we see Victoria finding the strength she needed to get her daughter the care she needed. As a parent I know there are no limits to what I would do for my children and reading Victoria's story reminded me of the strength and courage we gain as mothers. A well-written story that will awake your heart and renew your belief in the power of love.

Gaming for Grown Ups: A Tail Towns Friends Review
Posted by Unknown at 6:12 PM Labels: games, video games 0 comments
My kids have been long fans of Webkins so when I heard Ganz, make of our beloved Webkins was coming out with an interactive collection for grown-ups, I had to sign up to review it. Don't let the cutesy characters fool you, the Tail Towns Friends are for adults.
Social media games are all the rage on Facebook and Tail Towns Friends will not disappoint. My friends are always sending me invites to help them harvest the plants on their fave Facebook games and this was the first time I found myself doing the same. The game reminded me of some of old computer mystery games I played as a teen. There's a story line and once you get into it, it's quite addictive.
Here's what the game manufacturer has to say:
Combining the fun of social media gameplay with timeless charm and unparalleled beauty, Tail Towns Friends offers players drama and juicy, soap opera-inspired storylines and the photo-realistic art allows players to become landscape artists to create the home and garden of their dreams.
Here is what you can enjoy while playing:
· Players help friends and supply city businesses amidst unfolding tales of soapy drama
· The ability to create the ultimate landscaped country getaway
· Intertwining storylines, featuring cinematics and voice-acting
Tail Towns Friends also delivers a total gaming experience with custom-designed collectible fully hand-painted beautifully crafted figurines, bridging the real world with the virtual one.
Register Tail Towns Friends figurine to unlock the character’s exclusive storyline and “Secret Diary Goals,” which gives players insight into his/her life. Each figurine rewards users with an exclusive specialty virtual item as well. Registering other collectible figures’ secret codes unlocks even more Secret Diary Goals and exclusive items. The figurines are not only a great addition to the game, but also stand alone as a wonderful addition to any collector’s shelves.
My Thoughts:
I'm a huge gamer and although Facebook / role playing games are not my genre of preference, Tail Towns Friends did not disappoint. The graphics and storyline are pretty awesome and the reaction time was outstanding! The figurines may lead you to believe this is some cute little game for the kiddos but the game is definitely for older players as there is a lot of online dialogue. It's kinda like a "Animal-themed soap opera" if you will. The game is more fun when you invite family and friends so I sent a few invites to a some of my family and friends who are constantly sending me game invites.
I found myself sneaking in a few minutes of game play while waiting at the doctor's office and am eager to progress along the game so I can meet more of the fab cast of Tail Towns Friends. Well, that and make my farm as pretty as that of some of my online Tail Towns Friends.
Although you may play on Facebook for free, you can purchase figurines with access codes to enhance your gaming experience.

Sandwich Envy Courtest of #Applegate Farms
Posted by Unknown at 12:00 AM Labels: food, MomsMeet 0 commentsThanks to Moms Meet I received the opportunity to sample Applegate deli products. Sampling food? You know I am so there and this was quite the tasty opportunity! The joke in my family is that I love HAM! I do. I consider myself somewhat of a Ham Connoisseur if you will so when I saw the Applegate Naturals Black Forest Ham I knew this would be the subject of my taste test.
Applegate Marinated Black Forest Ham is marinated in sugar and spices and prepared in the tradition of true German Black Forest hams: slow cooked with a hearty smoking. Moist and delicious, each 2-ounce serving of Natural Black Forest Ham provides 10g of protein with only 50 calories and 1.5g of fat. It retails for $4.99
My Thoughts: Delicious! The right touch of sweetness and a beautiful piece of meat. Lower in sodium thanks to no added nitrates. This is a pretty tasty ham, perfectly flavored and marinated. Whether plain or topping my fave sandwich, Applegate Black Forest Ham was delicious! For my sandwich, I added a little touch of mustard, topped with fresh romaine lettuce, colby jack, red onions and tomatoes served inside a warm, fresh-baked ciabatta. Sandwich Envy!!!
About Applegate:

Italian dried sausage in the United States. Using a traditional recipe and

God Loves You by Dr. David Jeremiah Book Review
Posted by Unknown at 4:52 PM Labels: books 0 commentsThat God loves us is the most profound truth in the universe. Experiencing this love has the potential to answer every question, solve every problem, and satisfy the deepest yearnings of the heart. So why are many people who believe this still unable to fully utilize the power of God's love in their personal lives?
In this probing book, Dr. David Jeremiah reveals that not fully understanding and appreciating every critical dimension of God's love can lead to missed opportunities to experience His love. He explains how even the so-called negative dimension of God's actions--hell, prohibitive commandments, pain and suffering in the world--can only be rightly understood by viewing them in light of God's true love.
My Thoughts: Very inspirational book sure to lift the spirit and remind the reader of God's love for us. God Loves You was my introduction to Dr. David Jeremiah, the founder of Turning Point Ministries. God Loves You is sprinkled with a sampling of scripture and some of Dr. Jeremiah's personal reflections and made for a very good read. I really enjoyed the retelling of the parable of the prodigal son. As many times as I'd heard the story I never tire of it and Dr. Jeremiah's take on the tale was a fresh word. Dr. Jeremiah is a pretty good storyteller and I did chuckle a little but I comprehended. I understood the point he was trying to illustrate with the scriptural references. No heavy preaching here. Just a simple book which lovingly reminds the reader that God Loves You.

Glade Expressions® Collection BzzAgent Review
Posted by Unknown at 12:00 AM Labels: bzzagent 0 commentsOur home is smelling really nice thanks to Glade Expressions® and just in time as we prepare for Autumn guests. With four fab scents to choose from it was difficult narrowing it down to just one but this money saving mommy found them on sale at a local store. The refillable sprays and elegant diffusers compliment any room they're placed in and the scents are long lasting and noticeable.

Four luxurious scents
- Cotton and Italian Mandarin
- Fuji Apple and Cardamon Spice
- Lavender and Juniper Berry
- Pineapple and Mangosteen
I admit deciding which one to purchase was a tough decision so I ended up buying 3 of the 4 scents. My store didn't have the Lavender and Juniper Berry. *sigh* So if any Three Boys and an Old Lady blog readers have sampled the Lavender and Juniper Berry I'd love to hear your thoughts.
The Cotton and Italian Mandarin was my favorite spray with it's crisp and clean scent. Very refreshing and not too citrus smelling. The unique container didn't attract the kids' attention like some other sprays so I was able to leave it on the counter top without worry.
The Pineapple and Mangosteen was my favorite diffuser.Very sweet smelling and although I wish there was a way to control the odor I found simply moving it to another part of the room allowed you to smell the scent without being overpowered by it. Hey, we've got sensitive noses in the Three Boys and an Old Lady household. Seriously, the diffuser started on the coffee table because it is so pretty to look at and by then end of the week it was on top of the piano. The scent is less subtle in it's new spot and the beautiful art-like diffuser looks even more beautiful on the piano than it did right smack dab in the middle of my coffee table.
Be sure to watch for deals on this fab find on the Glade Expressions® Collection
Disclosure: Thanks to BzzAgent I received a coupon for a free product plus coupons to share with my family and friends.

Daily's Cocktails Savor the Flavor of Summer Giveaway
Posted by Unknown at 12:30 AM Labels: giveaway, Holiday, party 0 comments
Summer is gone but thanks to Daily's Cocktails it's not too late to Savor the Flavor of Summer. With seven frozen pouch varieties to choose from you're sure to find something to your liking.
I recently tried the Pomegranate Acai Margarita and the Daily's Light Strawberry Margarita. Love them both! The Pomegranate Acai Margarita was very refreshing and if you've ever prepared a dish using fresh pomegranate you know how messy the fruit can be. With Daily's Cocktail pouches you get all the flavor and none of the mess. Each 10 oz. pouch contains a pre-measured, pre-mixed frozen beverage and the alcohol is in it! No mixing. Just freeze and pour when ready! The Pomegranate Acai Margarita was so deelish I offered hubby a taste and he nearly drank the whole thing. He looked at me and asked "Why didn't you buy me one?"
Some of my fave cocktails are loaded with calories so when I saw the Daily's Light Strawberry Margarita I had to try it. 180 calories per pouch! Not bad. Not bad at all. Very flavorful and I'm thinking of stocking our deep freezer with a few of these for my upcoming holiday GNOs (Girls Night Out). My blender gets a workout around the holidays and Daily's Cocktails are a great way to give my blender a break and give me more time to mix and mingle with my guests.
Daily's welcomes you to Savor the Flavor of Summer with their 7 signature flavors and invites you to try Daily's Cocktails Hard Cider and Spiced Sangria pouches coming to a store near you this Fall.
