Kids Natural Calm Multi

As a mom, I worry about whether our kiddos are getting enough vitamins and minerals.  I try to make sure they eat healthy but with a house full of picky eaters it's hard.  I mean kids can be so finicky.  One day one's a vegan, the next day that same child is carnivore.  I guess I am lucky though considering each of them enjoys a good salad every now and then and they have yet to catch on to the secret ingredient - carrots - to my homemade marinara.  Yes, I blend steamed carrots and add them to my tomato sauces for an extra nutrient boost.

Our Thoughts:  I received a 30 oz. bottle and two sample packets of Kids Natural Calm Multi.   I was glad to see it contained several vitamins and minerals including omega-3 fish oil.  I’ve tried products for kids with omega-3 fish oil and my kids HATED them.  Seriously it’s really difficult to disguise omega-3 fish oil.  I couldn’t wait to see what my kids thought of the Kids Natural Calm Multi.  It didn’t take long before my youngest son asked “Mommy is this vitamin juice?”   When I asked why he asked me that, he said “Smell it”.  I did.   He was right, Kids Natural Calm Multi smells like their daily chewable vitamins.  You know that fruity, chalky smell that kids’ vitamins have.   What surprised me is my kids never noticed the omega-3 fish oil.  Seriously, if you have ever had omega-3 fish oil you know that is quite a difficult odor to disguise, so kudos toKids Natural Calm Multi for being able to mask the pungency of the omega-3 fish oil. 

We tried the Kids Natural Calm Multi with water and juice.  When mixed with water the vitamin scent was prevalent and when mixed with juice the taste was akin to V-8 Splash.  We mixed it with apple, orange and even grapefruit juice and the kids seemed to like it no matter what we mixed it with. 

I loved that the Kids Natural Calm Multidosage instructions break down dosage amounts by age.  ½ oz. (1 tbsp.) for ages 4-8 and 1 oz. (2 tbsp.) for ages 9-12.  This is great for moms with kids in the two age groups.  HOWEVER, there’s no dosage cup *sigh* so you’ll have to break out the old tablespoon to measure the appropriate dosage for your child.  On a side note, I filled the cap and determined it holds about 1 tbsp. but be sure to measure for yourself for exact dosage.

Our Thoughts:  Math.  Fun.  Happy Mommy + Happy Children!  The Littlest One enjoyed this from the time the music began to the very end.  We love anything that promotes learning and Team Umizoomi has found a way to make learning fun.  The skills they learn at this age are sure to come in handy at school.  I also love how the dvd presents real life scenarios so kids can see how we use math every day.

My Thoughts:  Hubby and I will celebrate 15 years of wedded bliss this year and over the years we've definitely reached the plateau in our *ahem* bedroom so Rinna's THE BIG, FUN, SEXY SEX BOOK proved to be just the spark I needed to explore something new.  You'd think after 15 years we would have done it all huh?  But after a few pages of Rinna's book I realized such was not the case.  I have much to learn.  Love that Rinna's tackling such a taboo subject.  Seems like she's doing a lot of that these days with this book and her reason stint as a Depends spokesperson.

I really enjoyed reading the inset exercises scattered throughout the book.  Lately we've been hearing all this buzz about Fifty Shades of Gray and everyone's confessing their deep, dark fantasies.  Well, I haven't read that book - YET - but Rinna's book is perfect for spicing things up a tad.  Granted there were a couple of sections in the book that I was like "Umm no", but others made perfect sense.  For example, being honest and upfront and letting your partner know your likes and dislikes.  Remembering the sensation brought on by a kiss.  Yes, there were a ton of bow-chicka-wow-wow moments but overall the book has some pretty good hints for couples who have been together a long time and may need a little rekindling.  Newlyweds, notsomuch, but if you and your partner have come to the point where your sex life if boring, then spice it up a little with some of the tips found in Rinna's book.

My Thoughts:  I can't count the number of times I've jokingly uttered "Calgon take me away" but I hadn't used Calgon in years.  What a nice re-introduction to their products.  I received the Morning Glory gift set and was pleasantly surprised.  I understand why the brand has lasted so many generations.  Seriously, my grandmother and my mom used Calgon products when they were about my age and even though we don't see commercials for Calgon products anymore, the iconic "Calgon take me away" brings to mind a bath filled with bubbles offering a temporary escape from the drudges of daily life.  

The body cream had a lingering scent that complimented the body spray but wasn't overpowering.  I am looking forward to trying other scents from Calgon and glad to see they're available at Walmart.

Crazy Dangerous by Andrew Klavan Book Review

"You probably want to hear about Jennifer and the demons and how I played chicken with a freight train and-oh yeah-the weird murder . . . you're definitely going to want to hear about that." 

Sam Hopkins is a good kid who has fallen in with a bad crowd. Hanging around with car thieves and thugs, Sam knows it's only a matter of time before he makes one bad decision too many and gets into real trouble. 

But one day, Sam sees them harassing an eccentric schoolmate of his named Jennifer. When Sam finds the courage to face the bullies down, he loses a bad set of friends and acquires a very strange new one. 

Because Jennifer is not just eccentric. To Sam, she seems downright crazy. She has terrifying hallucinations involving demons and the devil and death. And here's the really crazy part: Sam is beginning to suspect that these visions may actually be prophecies--prophecies of something terrible that's going to happen very soon. Unless he can stop it. 

With no one to believe him, with no one to help him, Sam is now all alone in a race against time. Finding the truth before disaster strikes is going to be both crazy and very, very dangerous.

 

About Andrew: 

Andrew Klavan was hailed by Stephen King as "the most original novelist of crime and suspense since Cornell Woolrich." He is the recipient of two Edgar Awards and the author of such bestsellers as True Crime and Don't Say a Word.

His books and screenplays have been turned into films directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Michael Douglas, Ed Burns, Michael Caine among others.

My Thoughts:  Despite the story being written about a pair of teens, Crazy Dangerous is hardly a story for teens.  There are some really intense situations in the book and Klavan does a wonderful job keeping readers engaged from page one until the very end.  I felt a sense of familiarity with the lead characters and kept reading waiting to see how things would turn out for them.  The book's subtitle, "Do Right.  Fear Nothing" echoes constantly throughout the book as Sam comes to his own by doing the RIGHT thing.  He did the right thing by standing up to his classmates when he saw Jennifer being bullied.  He understood having been somewhat of an outcast himself.  Over the course of his story, Sam finds courage in simply doing the right thing.

Although the book is marketed as Christian Teen Lit, I would steer away from this book as a great read for younger teens.  There are some rather graphic scenes that may be scary for younger readers.

My thoughts:  HILARIOUS!  Think Farmville without the social media aspect.  It's you and the animals...trust me that's more than enough.  I haven't had this much fun wasting my time since I launched my first angry bird a few years ago.

Ok, the whole premise of your uncle leaving you a farm full of crazy animals may not sound like much fun, but believe me once you shear your first sheep with the crazy contraption of a shearing machine you will be hooked.  I wasn't too happy and neither where my animals when a tornado came and swooped up 1/2 my farm.  But a few minutes later the stork came and delivered a new animal to my farm.  The game is hilarious!  

That said, the game isn't the easiest to master.  I haven't been able to keep a farm for longer than a day or two, but it's fun.
