Six Weeks to OMG by @VeniceAFulton Book Review

Based on a plan originally designed for Venice Fulton’s A-list clients, SIX WEEKS TO OMG uses a unique mix of nutrition, biochemistry, genetics, and psychology to produce dramatic and lasting results that can help anyone lose weight, boost energy, and improve overall health.  Ditching the tired old formulas of the current crop of popular diet plans, SIX WEEKS TO OMG provides proven and sometimes counter-intuitive advice showing that skipping breakfast is healthy, cold baths and black coffee help drop pounds, juice and smoothies inspire overeating, and small, frequent meals can actually be damaging to our bodies.

Venice Fulton said, “I wrote SIX WEEKS TO OMG from the heart, so the success presented me with a new problem: who could spread its word in the spirit that it was intended?  Grand Central stepped up big time, and in a personal OMG moment, I knew instantly that these were the guys with the boldness to make it work.”

Venice Fulton’s self-published SIX WEEKS TO OMG began making waves – and rising on UK ebook bestseller lists -- after grabbing headlines in prominent British publications such as the Daily Mail, Metro’s London edition, and the Times of London.  The immediate and enthusiastic reaction to the diet attests to its accessibility and appeal, and promises that SIX WEEKS TO OMG is destined to be thediet book of 2012.

About Venice A. Fulton:
Venice Fulton is an expert in sports medicine who has dedicated himself for more than 10 years to helping his high-profile clientele keep their bodies fit and healthy.  He lives in London.

My Thoughts:  Fulton contradicts everything and I mean everything we've been hearing about weight.  As I started reading the book it became evident Fulton's enthusiasm is contagious and he knows his stuff.  There are some common sense tips in the book particularly with regards to exercise more and eat less.  However, there are some more subtle tips such as "When and How to Drink Green Tea".  We've heard so much buzz about green tea yet I've heard little about how much, how often, how to prepare it.  Fulton has an entire chapter dedicated to green tea.  Even details reasons why you should drink it at the end of a meal as opposed to the beginning.

Each chapter ends with an OMG countdown which summarizes the chapters.  This is funny considering each chapter is about 5-10 pages.  The chapters are small and there are a lot of them which helps readers absorb the information in small bits rather than big chunks.   SIX WEEKS TO OMG is a basic, bare bones book on getting healthy.  No pretty pictures.  No recipes.  Just 24 hours a day, 7 days a weeks and six weeks.

Fulton details three paths for weight loss:  Wave, Blaze and Quake.  The Wave plan is a the simplest plan.  The Blaze plan is a little more intense and the Quake, the fastest, most intense of the three plans.  I opted to start with the Wave plan and am glad to report I am on my second week.  Eating breakfast was not a daily regimen of mine and going 3-5 hours but I am getting in the habit of preparing breakfast and getting in a little exercise before heading to the office.  I also love the breathing exercises.  You'll have to read the chapter on using balloons to tighten stomach muscles.

I also like how Fulton gives credit where credit is due citing scientific journals found in PubMed listed in the last chapter of the book.  Yet, Fulton's "research" is based on his personal experiences with his clients and he uses the research of scientists and health professionals to substantiate his claims. This is perfect for those of us who like to have a little scientific proof.
